Hi Lian,

We've converted the topography/bathymetry, wind and discharge files into netCDF format. The following link is a general guide to this data format.

http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/content/software/netcdf/index.html

They are accessible using the DODS server listed below

http://caro-coops.org/cgi-bin/nph-dods/storm_surge_data

or you can use after installing the following java viewer(ncBrowse) and using it's 'web' function to access remote datasets.

http://www.epic.noaa.gov/java/ncBrowse/

The USC network is experiencing some outages due to end of the semester usage spikes, the outages are usually momentary, so please try more than once if an access attempt is unsuccessful.

I'm not sure how these tools meet your needs to access or query the datasets for the models. Please let us know if you need guidance on how to use these tools(DODS, ncBrowse) or what functionality you need from them.

We are also curious about how these datasets will be accessed and updated. What needs does your team have as far as automated and manual access to the datasets?

Should we be contacting agencies such as NWS and USGS to look into a live data feed which we can use in a dataset append process to keep the datasets up to date?

Thanks,
Jeremy Cothran
