Greetings,

I'm looking for some subjective opinions about linux distributions as I am currently in the process of choosing a distro for a project I am working on.

The purpose of this machine will be to host a very small database [approx 5,000 records by the end of the project], but my aim in selecting a distribution is to choose a package considered to be the most "widely accepted." I know that in the opinions of some, the obvious choice would be RedHat. For others it is probably Debian, SuSE or Mandrake.

Anyone have insight on this? I am basically looking for something that is sustainable should I decide to leave the project, for whatever reason.

[At home I run Gentoo... if that somehow helps.]

./Peter
