Storm Surge Scenario Catalog Ranking

The modeling team has run a total of 576 different storm scenarios for the Charleston area. These are a variation of the following factors simulated at 10 minute time steps over a 21 hour interval at mean sea level(tides would be added or subtracted from these results).

The following is a ranked listing of storm scenarios from maximum flooding to least flooding and the time of the occurence relative to the start of the simulation. Note that the maximum flooding is an indication of water volume and not the maximum envelope of water(MEOW). The map animations give a better indication of the overall water envelope and MEOW maps will be added to the product list in the future.

Viewing the data as a pdf requires the free download and install of the Adobe reader.

Viewing the data as a shapefiles requires ESRI GIS software or other software capable of handling the shapefile format. The projection datum is WGS84.

Viewing the data using 'Google Earth' requires free download(11 MB) and install of the Google Earth client available from http://earth.google.com. The transparency of the overlayed image can be changed using the transparency slider bar.

For the 'More Products' link which show the full animation of the time sequence for the storm, the only scenarios available which demonstrate these additional products are for scenario #89(a worst case scenario) and scenario #4. No shapefiles for the animations are currently available, but the shapefiles and animations are in the process of being completed.
